OBSCURITY

Every once in a while, I find myself wondering what Saddam is up to. Especially when I see him cavorting with Satan all the time. (I still think Saddam should be forced to watch South Park episodes starring himself. Cruel and unusual? You betcha.)

So it's always fun to find an article about what Saddam is doing these days. Oh look, he's starving himself to prove a point.

A year after his capture on December 13, 2003 Saddam, once the most visible symbol of the country he ruled for 33 years, has faded into obscurity amid the daily insurgency that has engulfed Iraq.

To quote John Kreese of the Cobra Kai: "You're nothin', you lost, you're a loser." But don't let Saddam fade too much away; we have to keep ourselves pumped up for the day when he's executed.

1 Oh baloney. Saddam isn't going hungry, I'll wager. The closest he's ever come to being hungry is when he contemplated having either a Baby Ruth or a Snickers in his little Fisher Price "My First Bunker" they dragged him from.

2 I know that we (the U.S.) wants Saddam executed, but I'll believe it when I see it happen. If the Sheites win resoundingly, they're going to want to kill him; but we don't want the Sheites to win resoundingly - that would make Iraq an Iran-clone. We want the Sheites to win, but share a good bit of power with the Sunnis and Kurds. If that happens, look for Saddam to get a long sentence (maybe even a death sentence) that doesn't get served. Try this one on for size: Sheites and Sunnis and Kurds share power like good kids - Saddam rots in prison for awhile. Bush leaves office (yes! - It's got to happen, you don't get to elect him again); Saddam's sentence is commuted, and he is elected through a free and fair elections process, set up by the U.S. government, to the position of President of Iraq! Freedom on the March! It's a longshot, but stranger things have happenned. Bottom line - if we really want Saddam dead, we'd better do it ourselves. I don't think enough of the Iraqis want him dead bad enough to do the job themselves.
